carpet-flooring-1

Carpets make your house to look attractive and provide a feeling of comfort. However, keeping them in their original quality can be a daunting and difficult task. What people don't realise is that carpet can get worn out due to cleaning it in the wrong way, such as using harmful cleaning products among other factors. Below are simple tips to help you take care of your carpet and maintain its quality.

Vacuum it regularly

You should learn to vacuum the high traffic areas of your carpet regularly. You should aim to do this twice a week. As for the light traffic areas, clean these areas once per week.

Use doormats

Did you know that a doormat reduce the amount of dirt trapped in your carpet? To prolong the quality of your carpet, invest in doormats so that you won’t have to vacuum or clean your carpet all the time.

Clean any spots or spills immediately

Accidents are almost impossible to prevent. Spilling any liquid on your carpet, especially during meal time is normal. If this does occur, its important to clean the spill immediately as the rate of absorption will reduce if left untreated. Leaving spills for a long time can also lead to bacteria and mold which comes with a foul smell.

Keep the doormats clean

Despite the fact that doormats aid in reducing dirt in your house, if you don’t keep them clean, your carpet will suffer. Therefore, keeping them clean all the time will help maintain a healthy door environment.

Use deep extraction when carpet cleaning

Carpet cleaning machines using deep extraction to remove deep set dirt, pollen and dust. As you clean using this method, avoid using harmful chemicals as they might add pollutants to your carpet. Consider looking for a cleaning company that uses environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Groom your carpet

You will be surprised by how good your carpet will appear after it gets groomed. You can groom your carpet after deep cleaning it. Since your carpet tends to have so much dirt after use, grooming after cleaning helps to maintain its quality.

Deodorise your carpet

While carpet can appear to be clean, it can accommodate harmful bacteria. This results in a foul smell which can make a home feel and smell stuffy. Look for enzymatic cleaning products that will help to eliminate the odor.

Avoid using low quality products

There are many cleaning products in the market. However, not all of them are effective in cleaning the carpet. As much as they appear to remove the spots, spills and other forms of dirt, they may drive them deeper during the cleaning process. Later, the stains will appear to look worse than before. You can seek professional advice on best cleaning products or let your carpet to be cleaned by professionals.

Rafael Niesten

Written by Rafael Niesten

In his early 20s, Perth local Rafael Niesten, won a scholarship to study in Canada, with that came the opportunity to volunteer at a local radio station. That spawned his entrepreneurial streak, returning to Perth in 2001 he set up community radio Groove FM. More by luck than design, they became successful, too successful as they took a significant chunk of the Perth Market. This sent up the red flag with his commercial competitors who saw to it that he came before the Australian Broadcasting Authority and on technicalities such as the number of volunteers he was forced to move on. He received the citizen of the year award for Western Australia (youth) and was a finalist in the Australian of the year awards (Youth). Falling on his sword he turned to running small and large scale events, all the while buying, renovating and selling properties. Buying and selling land and renovated houses provided a grounding in the property industry. He founded a cloud based medical grade voice recognition company, followed by co founding the first true cloud application for private practice in the health sector. He successfully exited these ventures at the end of 2016 and began building Bricks+Agent.
