5 Factors To Consider Before Hiring An Electrician

elect

While it is possible to handle some minor maintenance issue, you will need the services of an electrician for any electrical issues you made have in your home. Your home is a place where you spend most of your time, and without electricity, you're left quite limited to the number of things you can do.

If you want to install new electrical outlets or sort out repair issues, you will need an electrician. Electricians are licenced by Australian standards of all electrical activities to keep your home safe. But how will you get the right electrician? Read below to find out how.

1. Referrals

Despite the fact that there are many electricians in the market, choosing the right person can be overwhelming. You might want to ask friends and family members about their experience with their electricians, or consider using a platform like Bricks+Agent that allows you to review qualified electricians and hire through the app. This is an effective way since people are likely to tell the truth about their experience with the electrician they hired. If they had a good experience, they would always recommend them to you.

2. Experience

If you are looking for master electrical services, you need an experienced electrician. A qualified electrician will fix your electrical issues and maintain high standards of safety measures. Check on the number of years they have worked as electricians. A perfect electrician should have more than three years’ experience in this field and also hold an Australian electrician's licence. It is illegal for an electrician to operate in Australia without one.

3. Professionalism

Working with an electrician who maintains high professional standards makes everything easy for you. You can determine whether an electrician is a professional through their attitude when they first speak with you. Were they polite? Did they listen to you?

An electrician should make you feel important when you first meet them. What about their appearance and honesty? Ensure that you take note of those things.

4. Licencing

It can be difficult to determine the qualifications of an electrician. However, with a valid and authentic licence, you can be sure of hiring the right person. Before electricians get a licence, they are required to pass all their practical and theoretical qualifications. A permit is, therefore, an indicator that they are qualified.

5. Do your research

The internet has simplified many things today. You don’t have to go around asking about electricians in case they have a portfolio of their work online. When doing your research, pay attention to what other people are saying about that electrician. Were they satisfied with the electrician?  If you find that the electrician has many positive reviews, you can be confident that you will get the best service and job done.

It is essential to check out the past projects of an electrician before hiring them. Find out their customer reviews in case they have an official website. You can also check customers’ feedback on their official social media pages. Don’t forget to check on their affordability. Some electricians might be too expensive while others are affordable.

Check a suitable electrician that fits your budget. Insurance is also a factor that you should consider. Is the electrician insured? All good and reliable tradies will have their own insurance. Choosing the right electrician helps you to stay in a safe environment in case of any electrical issues.

Not sure where to start? Hire a professional to help you with your project. Use Bricks+Agent homeowners hub to hire an electrician. Its free to post a job!

Rafael Niesten

Written by Rafael Niesten

In his early 20s, Perth local Rafael Niesten, won a scholarship to study in Canada, with that came the opportunity to volunteer at a local radio station. That spawned his entrepreneurial streak, returning to Perth in 2001 he set up community radio Groove FM. More by luck than design, they became successful, too successful as they took a significant chunk of the Perth Market. This sent up the red flag with his commercial competitors who saw to it that he came before the Australian Broadcasting Authority and on technicalities such as the number of volunteers he was forced to move on. He received the citizen of the year award for Western Australia (youth) and was a finalist in the Australian of the year awards (Youth). Falling on his sword he turned to running small and large scale events, all the while buying, renovating and selling properties. Buying and selling land and renovated houses provided a grounding in the property industry. He founded a cloud based medical grade voice recognition company, followed by co founding the first true cloud application for private practice in the health sector. He successfully exited these ventures at the end of 2016 and began building Bricks+Agent.
