6 Bathroom Cleaning Mistakes

bathroom-cleaning-mistakes

Did you know that your bathroom holds many germs? Cleaning it isn't a fun task and you might end up making many blunders during the whole activity. While it's important to keep a bathroom clean, many people assume this and end up getting infections and other related diseases. You can maintain your bathroom and enjoy your shower by avoiding the following mistakes.

1. Using the same detergent to clean everywhere

How many cleaning products do you use to clean your bathroom? If you use the same cleaning product to clean all areas, you could be allowing unwanted bacteria to continue growing. Every aspect of your bathroom requires a different a unique detergent or chemical. For example, use a spray cleaner to remove bacteria from your bathtub, tiles, and sink basin. For bathroom mirrors, consider using  a  glass cleaner to remove dirt and bacteria.

2. Not getting rid of moisture

Mold grows in a bathroom when there is enough moisture to encourage bacteria to grow. To avoid mold, turn on the exhaust fan before getting into the shower or bath. If you don’t have a fan, consider opening a window. The key to keeping your bathroom free of mold is to ensure its dry and well ventilated.

If you've noticed mold in the shower or bath seek advice from a service provider to treat the damage as early as possible to prevent any severe infections.

3. Putting a wet toilet brush in the holder

Do you have a habit of cleaning the toilet, cleaning the brush and then putting it back in the holder when it's still wet? Did you know that the damp brush can be a breeding ground for bacteria? If you notice you're getting infections after using your bathroom, you might consider stopping this habit. Ensure that you wash your toilet brush and dry it before placing it back to the holder.

4. Failing to wash the shower curtain

Curtain liners tend to attract mold and mildew, especially when you fail to pull them closed after your shower. You may also notice that they can form a cloudy residue. Don't continue to use them like that. Place the shower curtain on a hot water wash and tumble dry for some few minutes.

5. Using paper towel

While paper towels are readily available and affordable, they are not effective when used for cleaning the bathroom. You might want to using something better like microfiber cloth as it has a static charge that traps dust. You can use them repeatedly by washing them thoroughly before re-using.

6. Using bathroom accessories for a long time

Even though you can use certain bathroom accessories for a long time, it is not hygienic to use accessories over a long period of time. For example, you may use  the same toothbrush holder over a long period of time however, things like children's bath toys and loofahs should be replaced within 2-3 months.

Keeping your bathroom hygienic and free from harmful bacteria is crucial to your health. As you aim to keep your body clean, ensure too, that you keep every part of your bathroom clean.
