6 Signs You Need To Replace Your Air Conditioning Unit

fan

Fans or AC units are crucial in your house during the summer as they help you to regulate the temperature and stay in a comfortable environment. Just like your PC, air conditioning units can have issues too and need proper maintenance. Otherwise, you might experience unexpected inconveniences especially if they stop working when you need them most.

We know that heat can be an enemy of components and too much of it can tamper with appliances in your home. If your air conditioner is old, you might want to replace it. Below are signs that you need a new air conditioning unit.

1. Limited or no air flow

Have you ever switched on your AC unit and realized that it produced less air? The reason behind it could be that there are clogs in its duct work or piping and this restricts the flow of air. It could also be another issue, and you need to note that you have it looked at by a professional or replace it.

2. Thermostat problems with the unit

When the thermostat of your AC unit is not working well or not working at all, your AC will not operate in peak condition. This may make you feel uncomfortable and the appliance will be running much harder than usual. You can fix this through a simple repair, or replace it with a new one if the issue is reoccurring. Problems with the thermostat can also cause one part of your house to be colder than another.

3. Moisture build up

Sometimes air conditioners create moisture but those that work effectively are equipped to handle moisture well. If your AC unit has moisture, that could be an indicator that there is a leakage around it. Presence of moisture in your AC makes it to under-perform and exposes your house to risks of mold. You should replace it as soon as possible before signs of mold start top appear and cause more damage.

4. Strange sounds from your air conditioning unit

Does your air conditioning produce unusual sounds? It might be a squeaking, chattering or grinding noise. If you hear such a noise, you should hire a professional to look at it. There could be an internal problem, and you may need to upgrade to better equipment as soon as possible.

5. Strange odour

An air conditioning unit in peak condition should produce a neutral smell of air. In the event that you notice a burning or smokey smell, contact an air conditioning specialist as you may have a serious problem. Take action immediately by finding a repairman or replacement unit.

If you experience a musty smell from your AC unit, it could indicate that there is mold and you should address this problem quickly.

6. High energy bills

Sometimes air conditioning units can be the cause of your high energy bills. AC units tend to use a lot of heat especially when their cooling systems have issues. You might want to upgrade to a better equipment and compare the outcome.

If your air conditioning unit is still new yet it has issues, you might want to hire an expert to help you fix the problem. Do not stay with an air conditioner until it gets too old. Always remember to seek professional help immediately you experience any issue.
