How Much Does It Cost To Hire A Cleaner?

hire-cleaner.jpg

If you don’t have time to keep your home clean and tidy, then hiring a cleaner is your next best option. Getting in a cleaner for a weekly house clean, or a spruce up before guests stay, is becoming more common these days as we juggle work, children, pets and social events. Here is an outline of the services and costs involved to give you an idea of how much you’ll be looking at paying.

Cleaning Services

There are lots of different types of cleaning services available, so you’ll need to narrow down exactly what you need. Do you need a weekly residential cleaner, a cleaner for a spring clean or a one-off deep clean for your carpet?

Once you know what you need you can get in touch with a cleaning company that provides what you need.

Residential Cleaning Costs

Professional house cleaners charge either an hourly rate or a rate based on how big your house or apartment is, i.e per square metre. You can expect to pay less if you have a one bedroom apartment rather than a large four bedroom house. In general you’re looking at between $20 and $55 per hour for residential cleaning, so a two bedroom apartment will usually cost around $100-$120 for a normal clean.

What Will a Cleaner Do?

Typically a cleaner should tidy, dust, mop and vacuum each room of the house. They should thoroughly clean general kitchen surface areas, bathroom showers and toilets and get everything looking sparkling clean. You should see a noticeable difference when you return.

Be aware there may be extra costs if you require additional appliances or fixtures to be cleaned. For example, carpet cleaning to get rid of stains can cost $20 to $40 per room, and oven cleaning, which is a messy job, $80 to $150.

Do I Have To Supply Cleaning Products?

No, cleaners usually turn up with their own cleaning supplies and equipment unless you specifically ask them to use your own.

Looking for cleaning services in your area? Head to Bricks+Agent and list your job to get quotes from local companies. Remember, it’s a good idea to get quotes from three or four companies to compare what they offer. Once you’re ready to connect you can simply enlist the services of the company with the quote that suits you.

Rafael Niesten

Written by Rafael Niesten

In his early 20s, Perth local Rafael Niesten, won a scholarship to study in Canada, with that came the opportunity to volunteer at a local radio station. That spawned his entrepreneurial streak, returning to Perth in 2001 he set up community radio Groove FM. More by luck than design, they became successful, too successful as they took a significant chunk of the Perth Market. This sent up the red flag with his commercial competitors who saw to it that he came before the Australian Broadcasting Authority and on technicalities such as the number of volunteers he was forced to move on. He received the citizen of the year award for Western Australia (youth) and was a finalist in the Australian of the year awards (Youth). Falling on his sword he turned to running small and large scale events, all the while buying, renovating and selling properties. Buying and selling land and renovated houses provided a grounding in the property industry. He founded a cloud based medical grade voice recognition company, followed by co founding the first true cloud application for private practice in the health sector. He successfully exited these ventures at the end of 2016 and began building Bricks+Agent.
