Are you in need of a business opportunity that will allow you to use your hands to create furniture, buildings and other wood related items? Currently, carpentry has a significant market. It is the ideal trade but how to become a carpenter is something that most people don't know. The tips below will help you to be a carpenter.

Carpentry apprenticeships

To become a carpenter, you need to complete an apprenticeship. Qualifications of learning may vary, but many employers requirements are year 10 level education. If you want an apprenticeship, check job advertisements, speak to your career adviser, contact Centrelink or call recognised carpenters and ask them if they might need an apprentice.

An apprenticeship includes both the job and job training, and it takes four years. A registered training organization like TAFE provides the off the job training. This is the theoretical component of training. You might do the off the job training while in school in some cases. This is known as the school-based apprenticeship.

If you want to get an apprenticeship faster, consider doing a pre-vocational course. The courses give you an idea which increases your chances of gaining carpentry apprenticeship.

Employment prospects

When you acquire the full training, you can start your own business or work as a subcontractor. Other opportunities for carpenters include government departments such as the local, state or federal departments, building and construction companies, firms that conduct building projects and group training companies.

Earning prospects

Since carpenters are on the National skills shortage list, they are always in demand. This has resulted to apprentices getting extra payments like support for adult apprentice’s payments, tools of the trade and much more during their apprenticeship. This is something that boosts their earnings. Even though the apprentice won’t earn a lot in the first apprenticeship year, earnings increase each year.

A carpenter who has full qualifications earns a large amount of money depending on the amount of work done.

Having spent over 12 years in the real estate industry covering all facets from residential through to commercial, established and off plan properties and sub-divisions, he has an in depth knowledge of the industry. Stepping out of the industry four years ago and moving interstate to expand a frozen yoghurt chain that has gone from 1 to 4 stores in the time he has been involved. This was recently sold to Made Group. Real estate has always been in his blood and it was a natural fit to start Bricks + Agent given the amount of insight he has into the industry as a whole. Having seen how all different forms of traditional marketing was used to the direction that it is now heading today, we think we have come up with a truly unique proposition that fits into the current state of the property maintenance market.
